Dastan-e-Kabir was organised in Delhi in July 2016, at the Lotus Temple. The art of Dastangoi is a form of Urdu oral storytelling. Having lost traction in the early 20th century, it is being revived by a small band of performers led by Shamsur Rahman Faruqi and Mahmood Farooqui. Ankit Chadha was our dastango or storyteller for the evening, among the youngest and most talented proponents of the art.
